When muscle discomfort affects your sleep, work, or everyday movement, focused care starts with understanding what you’re experiencing.
At Cincinnati Muscle Therapy, medical and recovery massage sessions are tailored to your symptoms, health history, comfort, and goals. Whether you’re managing ongoing tension or seeking care during recovery from an injury, each appointment focuses on your individual needs.
Medical and recovery massage is goal-focused bodywork that addresses specific areas of muscular discomfort. Your session begins with a discussion of your concerns, when they started, and how they affect your daily activities.
Treatment may incorporate neuromuscular therapy, myoskeletal alignment techniques, and other massage approaches selected for your needs. Pressure and techniques are adjusted throughout your appointment based on your comfort and response.
Recovery after surgery can involve muscle tightness, tenderness, and changes in how you move. After procedures such as a knee or hip replacement, your session can focus on surrounding muscles and areas working harder as you recover.
Care is tailored to your stage of healing, your surgeon’s restrictions, and your physical therapy plan. Once your incision is fully healed and your surgeon has approved it, treatment may also include gentle work around the surgical scar.
Post-surgical massage requires clearance from your surgical team and complements your rehabilitation plan.
If you’ve been diagnosed with a pinched nerve, you may also experience tightness or soreness in nearby muscles. Your session can address that muscular discomfort, with pressure and positioning adjusted to avoid aggravating your symptoms.
Massage does not correct the underlying cause of nerve compression. Your diagnosis, symptoms, and healthcare provider’s recommendations help guide whether treatment is appropriate. New or worsening numbness, tingling, or weakness should be evaluated before massage.
Your appointment may focus on muscle discomfort associated with:
The location that hurts is only part of the conversation. We’ll also discuss the activities, positions, and movement patterns that seem to ease or aggravate your discomfort.
Recovery looks different for everyone. Some clients seek massage after completing other treatment, while others use it alongside care from their healthcare team.
Your session takes into account the type of injury, your stage of recovery, and any restrictions or recommendations from your treating provider. Medical clearance may be needed before treatment, depending on your situation.
If an old car accident is part of your history, share that information—even if it happened years ago. It helps guide the discussion without assuming that the accident explains every current symptom.
Massage addresses the muscular component of your care. New or worsening symptoms, unexplained pain, numbness, or weakness may require medical evaluation before proceeding.
We’ll begin by identifying your priorities and reviewing relevant health information. With your consent, we may look at posture and comfortable movement to help guide the session.
Treatment may concentrate on one area or include several related regions. Your feedback helps determine pressure, positioning, and how much time we spend in each area.
When appropriate, we’ll also discuss practical after-care suggestions that fit your daily routine and any guidance from your healthcare team.
Appointments are priced by session length. Your needs determine the approach used during your booked time.
You don’t need to choose the correct technique or pay a separate upgrade for medical and recovery-focused massage.
A 60-minute session provides time to concentrate on your main concerns. A 90-minute session allows more time for multiple areas or a broader treatment.
Every visit is reassessed. Your session can change as your comfort, activity level, and recovery needs change.
